How to Apply for a SAP Vendor Number

The state of Pennslyvania requires all vendors to have a SAP vendor number.

SAP (Systems Applications and Products) is a California-based provider of enterprise-level business process software. Many local governments have adapted SAP software for their various administrative functions. An SAP number is a unique six digit number used by a municipality to identify a vendor in its system. Municipalities that use SAP generally require all registered vendors have a SAP number.

Instructions

1. Contact the municipality in question to determine if it has an online based SAP vendor number registration or by mail. Most states allow a potential vendor to apply online.

2. Download or complete the form. All vendors are required to provide their federal tax identification number. In Pennsylvania, if you need help with the form or lack access to the Internet then you can contact the state's Central Vendor Management Unit (CMVU) at 1-877-435-7363 for assistance.

3. Receive a response to your application within seven to 10 business days. Your SAP number will be mailed to the address listed on the application.
