How to Use Bleach for Sink Drains

Use bleach to clean your sink drains.

Sink drains are an area of the home that constantly develop bacterial growth. These dark, damp areas encourage mold and mildew growth, and also collect bacteria from the number of elements that you rinse down the drain. Bleach has long been used as a cleaning and disinfecting agent, and also works well to clean and disinfect your sink drains.

Instructions

1. Run about 2 quarts hot water down your drain to soften any stuck-on residue.

2. Pour 1 cup bleach directly into each of your sink drains.

3. Follow up immediately by flushing 2 quarts hot water down the drain. This will flush the bleach down through your pipes, leaving you with deodorized and bacteria-free sink drains.

4. Repeat weekly to keep the sink drains and pipes clean.
