1
Wash the chrome with car washing soap and water to get rid of loose dirt and debris. Wash with a clean sponge or towel and rinse thoroughly. This will help you clearly see where the rust is located.
-
2
Apply a small amount of chrome cleaner onto a steel wool pad as well as on the rusted area of the chrome.
-
-
3
Scrub the rusted area with the steel wool using a circular motion. Apply gentle pressure while scrubbing. If the steel wool pad becomes dry, apply more chrome cleaner. When one side of the pad becomes worn out, turn it over and use the other side.
-
4
Rinse the chrome with water periodically so you can see your progress and what areas you need to focus on. Put more cleaner on the steel wool pad and continue cleaning the chrome until all the rust is gone.
-
5
Apply a final coat of rust cleaner to the chrome and then rinse it.
-
6
Dry the chrome with a clean, dry towel. For added shine buff the fixture with a separate clean soft towel after you dry it.
