If you are creating different crafts out of recycling materials, such as plastic bottles, it can be difficult to alter the materials in the particular way you are requiring. For example, if you want to create a bird house out of a plastic 2 liter soda bottle, you will need to poke holes into the plastic bottle. One way to effectively poke holes out of the bottle is to use a wood burning tool.
Things You'll Need
- Plastic bottle
- Wood burning tool
- Face mask
Plug in the wood burning tool into an electrical outlet and let it heat up for 10 minutes.
Put on a face mask to prevent yourself from breathing in toxic fumes as you work.
Place a plastic bottle onto a flat surface, and angle the bottle so that you can see and access the area where you want to cut the hole.
Press the hot tip of the wood burning tool onto the plastic bottle, and move the tool around into a circle. The wood burning tool will cut through the plastic bottle, effectively cutting out a hole.
Repeat this process to cut out as many holes as you need for your craft project.
Unplug the wood burning tool, and allow it to completely cool down.
Discard the tip of the wood burning tool, which will be covered in plastic and will no longer be safe for future use.
