How do I Set the PSI on a Smith 100 Air Compressor?
If you work with air tools a lot you need an air compressor. The Smith 100 is no longer being manufactured. Its remaining inventory was picked up by Air Equip Direct, who intend to liquidate the inventory. The Smith 100, however, is comparable to other air compressors like the Task Force model. Air compressors function at a certain level of PSI (pounds per square inch). This is the amount of air pressure an air tool requires for it to reach full power. Air compressors come equipped with PSI regulators that you can set manually to meet specific requirements. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Plug your compressor in and confirm that the auto On-Off switch is in the off position.
-
2
Open the drain valve at the bottom of the compressor to release any built up water moisture from the tank.
-
-
3
Turn the power switch to the auto "on" position and allow 10 minutes to pass so pressure builds up in the tank.
-
4
Use the regulator selector dial to set the amount of PSI needed for the specific tool you will be using. For example, if you are using an air-powered lug wrench, read the power rating requirement on your air lug wrench. Set the compressor to the PSI rating requirement for your lug wrench by manually turning the dial.
