Do-It-Yourself Sweet 16 Centerpieces

A candy-themed party is the perfect way to celebrate a sweet 16 birthday. In addition to decorating in bright, candy-inspired colors, like pink, purple and blue, and serving candy-inspired treats and drinks, consider decorating the tables with a candy-themed centerpiece. Not only will these items look pretty but they can also be used as party favors when guests leave the party. For added benefit, if you are craft-oriented, you can even make the centerpieces yourself.

Things You'll Need

  • Clear vase, square or tubular
  • Candy-coated chocolates
  • Candy cane sticks
  • Lollipops of various heights and sizes
  • Floral wire
  • Gumballs
  • Ribbon
  • Scissors
  • Pour the candy-coated chocolates into the vase, filling the vase up completely.

  • Set the stems of the candy cane sticks and lollipops into the vase, ensuring that the lollipops are spread out evenly around the vase's perimeter and placed at varying heights.

  • Cut eight to 10 pieces of floral wire to varying lengths.

  • Insert a gumball in one end of each wire.

  • Arrange the wired-gumballs throughout the vase at varying heights; the gumballs will make the wires bend slightly.

  • Cut a piece of ribbon to wrap around the diameter of the vase. Tie the ribbon in a bow at the front of the vase or glue it in place with the seam at the back of the vase.
