Handcrafted Graduation Announcements
-
1
Cut card stock paper to your required size. Purchase premade, blank cards and envelopes if you are happy with a standard size.
-
2
Practice writing out your announcement on scrap paper. Start with something such as, "We are proud to announce the graduation of our daughter" or "We are proud to honor our graduate," then write the graduate's full name. Mention the school she is graduating from or the college degree she is receiving, and the school's city and state. State any achievements, such as "(first name) is graduating magna cum laude." Complete the announcement with information about the graduate's future plans. For example, ""(first name) plans to attend Yale University" or ""(first name) has secured a position with Saatchi and Saatchi."

3
Draw pencil lines on your paper with a ruler to keep your text straight. Write your announcement in pencil first to avoid permanent mistakes. Use a stencil if you do not like your handwriting. Go over it in marker when you are happy with the appearance, size and spacing of your words. Erase any visible pencil marks.
-
4
Embellish the announcements with stickers, stamps, glitter or confetti to create the look you desire.
-
5
Insert each announcement into an envelope and address it. Add a stamp and send it out.

6
Open your computer publishing program, such as Word, Publisher, Paint or Photoshop. Take a quick tutorial if you have not used it before. Create a design for your announcement using graphics, word art, pictures and text. Experiment with different fonts and graphics until you are happy with your design. Make sure it is appealing to look at, clear and easy to read.
-
7
Check that you have all the information you need on the announcement. Connect your printer to your computer, and print out a test copy of your announcement. Check this copy for errors, and make any necessary changes.
-
8
Print the quantity of announcements you require, plus a few extra in case you have miscalculated. Keep a copy for the graduate to store in her scrapbook.
-
9
Cut out your announcements. Add any embellishments if you desire any additional personal touches, such as glitter or confetti.
-
10
Insert each announcement into an envelope and address it. Add a stamp and send it out.
