How to Fix a Registry in Windows XP

The registry in your Windows XP computer is the location of the operating system containing all of the necessary information for the hardware and software currently installed to your PC. Repairing the registry is necessary when you experience random error messages brought on by a registry conflict. Luckily, the registry repair process in Windows XP is quick and easy.

Instructions

1. Click "Start" followed by "Programs." Choose "Applications," then "System Tools." Select "System Restore."

2. Select "Restore my computer to an earlier time."

3. Select a date prior to the time you started having registry issues.

4. Press "Next." The computer will automatically reboot and restore your computer, loading an old registry backup to resolve the issue.
