How to Install a Mustang SLP Exhaust
The Ford Mustang is an American-made muscle car first offered in 1964 and still being produced as of 2011. The Mustang has a tremendous aftermarket parts selection including numerous exhaust systems that increase horsepower and torque and give the Mustang a louder and more aggressive engine sound. SLP is a major manufacturer of aftermarket parts for the Mustang, including exhaust systems noted for their extremely loud and volatile sound.

Raise the rear of the Mustang using a jack. Once the Mustang is lifted, move the jack stands into place to hold the Mustang in this position.

Unbolt the factory exhaust system using a socket wrench. The size of socket needed varies depending on the year and model of the Mustang.

Slide the flange pieces onto the pipe (or pipes) that the factory exhaust system was connected to. Some models of the Mustang have only one pipe, while other have two. Tighten the bolts that hold the flanges in place using a socket wrench.

Slide the mufflers onto the flange pieces and connect the mufflers to the flange pieces with the included band clamps. Connect the mufflers to the chassis by tightening the connector bolts with a socket wrench.

Slide the axle pipes onto the mufflers and connect the axle pipes to the mufflers with the included band clamps.

Place the exhaust tips onto the exhaust hangers, located near the back of the Mustang.

Connect the axle pipes to the exhaust tips using band clamps.

Fully tighten all bands clamps using a 5/8-inch wrench.

Always test exhaust system installations for leaks. Leaky exhaust systems can be fatal.
