How to Install Motovation Frame Sliders on a Kawasaki Z1000

Motorcycle frame sliders are by far the cheapest and easiest way to protect your investment. When properly installed, these simple devices can greatly minimize the overall damage during the unfortunate event of a low-side or tip over. Quality of materials used, aesthetics and quality of workmanship should be considered when choosing the right frame slider for your bike. Most quality frame sliders are made of nylon for energy absorption with aluminum inserts for strengthening of the fastening points. Motovation frame sliders use a proprietary nylon that allows them to slide and scrub off speed while protecting the crucial components of the bike.

Instructions

    • 1

Let the motorcycle cool to ensure you are working with a cool engine.

    • 2

Remove the left-hand side upper engine bolt where the slider will be mounted.

    • 3

Insert the provided shorter bolt through the included washer, and then into the left slider (longer of the two sliders). Apply medium strength thread locker to the threads on the slider bolt.

    • 4

Insert the bolt and slider into the left-hand side engine hole where the stock bolt was removed. Tighten the frame slider bolt with an 8 mm Allen wrench or torque wrench to match the original manufacturer's torque settings. Refer to your manual for proper torque specs.

    • 5

Remove the right-hand side upper engine bolt where the slider will be mounted.

    • 6

Insert the provided longer bolt through the included washer, and then into the right slider (shorter of the two sliders). Apply medium strength thread locker to the threads on the slider bolt.

    • 7

Insert the bolt and slider into the right-hand side engine hole where the stock bolt was removed. Tighten the frame slider bolt with an 8 mm Allen wrench or torque wrench to match the original manufacturers torque settings. Again, refer to your manual for proper torque specs.

Tips & Warnings

  • Left- and right-hand side directions are referring to the bike's orientation while sitting on the motorcycle.

  • Do not over-tighten the slider bolts. Doing so can cause damage to your motorcycle.
