How to Troubleshoot a 2005 Chevy Trailblazer
The 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer LS came with a 4.2 liter, six-cylinder engine. This sport utility vehicle came equipped with several different standard features including front bucket seats, a chrome grille, 16-inch all-season tires, cruise control, power door locks, a rear lift-gate door, trailer hitch, front door pockets and power steering. Because the Trailblazer is built with so many different parts, it can be tough to properly troubleshoot a problem with the vehicle. Two ways to troubleshoot the Trailblazer are to examine manufacturer recall information and general troubleshooting details.

1
Inspect the passenger automatic airbag sensor system underneath the front driver passenger seat if the airbag icon is lit on the Trailblazer's instrument panel. Some Trailblazers that were manufactured with the automatic airbag sensor in the passenger seat were later reupholstered with an aftermarket leather seat cover kit. Testing by Chevrolet has shown that these aftermarket reupholster kits can inadvertently disable the air bag sensor which could significantly increase the injuries a front passenger suffers in the vehicle in the event there is an automobile crash. It would be best to have the manufacturer check and fix the airbag system if it is faulty.

2
Look at the steering gear of the Trailblazer if the vehicle's engine compartment makes a hissing noise while you turn the truck as you drive. The steering gear may be worn. Look also at the power steering hose see if the hose is leaking or was not installed properly.

3
Check the headlights if you have burnt out bulbs. The lights may need to be replaced. If the bulb is working properly, look at the headlight switch inside the passenger compartment of the Trailblazer and ensure that it isn't faulty or stuck.
-
4
Find the U-joint of the Trailblazer when you hear a clunk-like noise coming from the rear of the vehicle while you are changing gears as you drive. The U-joint could be damaged, worn or loose. If the clunk-like noise comes from the front of the vehicle while you are driving look at the steering gear and see if it is worn and needs to be replaced.
