How to Configure Asterisk With Quintum Tenor
Asterisk is a software application created by Digium, a company based in Alabama. Asterisk connects multiple telephone extensions -- such as the ones within a company's site -- to one another and to external telephone and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) connections. The Quintum Tenor line of VoIP switches connects standard telephone and fax equipment to VoIP networks. You can configure Asterisk to work with a Quintum Tenor in order to have the Quintum Tenor route calls between the telephone network, Asterisk and the IP network.
Instructions
-
-
1
Connect one of the Asterisk network interfaces to the LAN1 or LAN2 port on the back of the Quintum Tenor.
-
2
Log into the Asterisk administrative interface. The details for this operation depend on the platform on which Asterisk is running and on the available interfaces. For example, to start the web-based administrative tool, navigate to "http://XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:8088/asterisk/static/config/cfgadvanced.html" with a web browser, replacing "XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX" with the network address of the Asterisk server.
-
-
3
Click on "Setup," then on "Trunks," then on "Add SIP trunk." On the "Outgoing settings" section, enter "Quintum" as the trunk name. Enter the following text into the "Peer details" field:
context=from-trunk
insecure=very
secret=transformers
username=12345
type=peer
nat=yes
host=YYY.YYY.YYY.YYY
Replace "YYY.YYY.YYY.YYY" with the network address of the Quintum Tenor.
-
4
Enter "12345" in the "USER Context" field of the "Incoming settings" section. Make sure that the "USER Details" field is left blank.
-
5
Click on "Submit changes." Asterisk is now ready to route calls through the Quintum Tenor.
