How to Power Wash a Metal Roof
Power washers are versatile tools that can remove dirt and grime from almost any surface using only water. While pressure washers should not be used to clean asphalt shingled roofs, they are a good way to clean metal roofing. Although metal roofing is durable, it can discolor over time due to algae or acid rain and sometimes even develop a chalky residue. Power washers dissolve all of these and restore the metal to an attractive appearance. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Connect a garden hose to the water valve on the power washer and turn on the water flow. If the power washer has a tank instead of a valve, fill the tank with water to the maximum fill line indicated.
-
2
Attach an extension wand to the end of the power washer wand so that you can reach the entire roof easily. Attach a 0 degree tip to the end of the power washer wand and set the pounds-per-square-inch (PSI) on the pressure washer to the highest setting, typically 1,800.

-
4
Turn on the pressure washer and direct the spray at a downward angle onto the metal roof. Move the pressure washer wand in side-to-side motions over the entire roof to remove all debris and stains. Work your way from the top of the roof to the bottom.
