How to Remove the Exterior Trim Panels on a Ford Excursion

The exterior trim panels on a Ford Excursion are for decorative purposes only. The panels are factory installed and provide the Excursion with a clean finish at the bottom of the truck. If you do not like the look of the exterior trim panels on your Excursion, you can use an auto trim tool or a plastic putty knife to remove them.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert the tip of an automobile trim removing tool (or a plastic putty knife) into the gap at the end of the trim on the Excursion.

    • 2

Gently push the tool and wiggle it around to dig underneath the trim until the trim begins to peel away from the Excursion.

    • 3

Grab the loosened end of the trim and continue scraping the trim away with the tool until the trim is completely removed from the Excursion. Pull the trim away from the Excursion with your free hand as you scrape it away with the tool.

    • 4

Repeat this with each piece of trim on the Excursion.

    • 5

Put on a pair of rubber gloves.

    • 6

Soak a clean rag in adhesive remover.

    • 7

Wipe the adhesive remover over the glue leftover from the piece of trim. Wipe away as much glue as you can.

    • 8

Scrape away any remaining glue with an automobile adhesive removing tool (or a plastic putty knife).

    • 9

Fill a bucket with soap and warm water. Soak a clean rag in the soapy water and wash the areas of the Excursion which used to be covered with trim to wash away any adhesive remover.
