How Do I Repair the Power Supply on a Gateway FPD1960 Monitor?
The Gateway FTD-1960 monitor has a built-in feature to help you conserve its power supply. It will go into "Active Off" (sleep) mode when it is on, but has not been used for a certain period of time. In sleep mode, the LED indicator will turn orange and the monitor will use less than 2 Watts (W) of power. You can reawaken the monitor by pressing any key or by moving the mouse. Sleep mode may be misdiagnosed as a power supply problem. If you are certain that your monitor is not in sleep mode, try some power supply repairing tips.

1
Check that the monitor has warmed up sufficiently before addressing picture quality issues. It usually takes about 30 minutes before the monitor can work showing its fullest visual display capacity. During this time, it could be mistakenly branded as having a power supply problem.
-
2
Retrace your monitor connection steps to be sure it was set up properly. After the monitor neck has been inserted into the monitor base, the power cord connector should be connected. It is located in the back and under the monitor, so it could have fallen out of the connector if it was moved recently.

Check the VGA video cable and video connection on the back of the monitor. Both input and outputs are blue in color for easy identification. Or, connect a digital video (DVI) cable to the white connector on the back of the monitor if your computer connects using a DVI connector.
-
4
Turn your computer off and then connect the video cable to the monitor and to the matching port on your computer. Plug the power cord directly into the outlet. If the monitor does not turn on, go to the next step.
