How to Compare Utility ATVs
ATVs can be fun and exciting, but they can also be a practical tool. Utility ATVs are often used on ranches, for hunting and for moving heavy loads. When deciding on what ATV to buy think about what task you will primarily be using it for. For example, if someone wants an ATV to herd livestock they will be less concerned with top speed. Whereas someone who will use an ATV to patrol a large ranch property may want fuel economy.

Determine the needs of the user. Make a list of the features that the ATV must have. Determine a budget. Some ATVs are significantly more expensive than others. Prioritize features based on the needs of the user. For example, if the ATV will be used primarily for hauling lumber, then an ATV with high torque will be desired.

2
Research the ATVs offered by major manufacturers. Brands like Kawasaki, Yamaha, Honda, Polaris, Suzuki, Arctic Cat, KTM, Can-Am and Bombardier are the most popular. These companies will give out sales literature on their utility ATVs. Go to a showroom and take a seat on each ATV brand. Speak to sales associates and ask them about the features on each vehicle.

Read reviews online. One of the best sources for information on a product is by asking those who already own it. There are countless forums and reviews online dedicated to comparing ATVs. Research the models you are considering. Be wary of models that have recalls or bad reviews.

4
Make a shortlist of ATVs. Narrow down the list of available ATVs down to two or three. Test-drive these ATVs. This should be a determining factor. Each ATV will have a unique feel to it and the driver should know pretty quickly which one they like best.
