How to Repair a Sony 46 Inch TV With Blue Haze

Many of the models in Sony's line of high-definition LCD TVs come in the 46-inch model size. When watching video on your 46-inch Sony TV, you may notice a blue haze or blur appear on the television that is blocking and distorting the picture. If this happens, there are several troubleshooting steps to follow before contacting Sony about a service repair.

  • Turn off your Sony TV and unplug its power cable.

  • Remove all other cables that are plugged into the television, including component and HDMI video cables, and then wait five minutes.

  • Plug the video cables back into the television and connect the TV's power cable to a different electrical outlet. Then turn on the TV to see if the blue haze problem persists.

  • Turn off the TV again and replace the component or HDMI cables with new ones or ones you know are working. Faulty video cables can sometimes create a blue haze distortion on the television's screen.

  • Press the "Source" button on your remote control to shuffle through the different input modes on your television. If the blue haze is only visible on certain inputs, you can narrow the problem down to a specific device, like a cable box or DVD player.

  • Press the "Menu" button on your remote and go to the "Picture" section of the main menu. Highlight the "Reset" option with the directional keys and press the "OK" button to completely reset your TV's picture settings.

  • Contact Sony about sending your television in for service repair if the blue haze problem still persists. If your television is under warranty, the repair fee will be covered.
