How to Use a Strapping Machine

A strapping machine can make packing items a much easier task. A strapping machine is used to secure or combine packages together in order to keep them from moving around during shipping. Using a strapping machine can save time and cut costs on packing materials. There are different types of strapping machines such as the manual or electric ones. It is important that you know how to use a strapping machine to get the best results.

  • Put the "Power" button to the "ON" position. Depending on the strapping machine that you have, the "Power" button may be located on the front of the machine.

  • Pre-feed the strap through the strapping machine feeder (the strap comes with the machine). Press the "Feed" button -- located on the front of the strapping machine -- and hold it until you get the desired length for your package.

  • Place the package that you want to strap against the package guide on the strapping machine. Put the strap around the package, then move the tension adjustment handle, which is located on the back of the strapping machine, clockwise to tighten the strap around the package.

  • Feed the end of the strap into the strap inlet to start the strapping and sealing process. The strapping machine will seal and cut the strapping automatically. Remove the package from the machine and turn the power to the "OFF" position.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use a cover over your strapping machine to keep out dust and debris.
  • Do not leave tools or other objects on the strapping machine while it is in use.
