If you have an iPod or an iPhone, you'll notice that the carrier logo is part of the display. For those who want to change this fact, you need to modify the backup of the iPhone so that this doesn't show up. It can be done in a few simple steps, but if you're not technologically proficient then you may want to think twice because any damage that's done or mistakes made might cause long lasting harm.
Things You'll Need
- Connector cable
- IBackup bot
Hook up your iPhone to your computer with the connector cable. Open up the iTunes program and view your iPhone inside that program. This is where you're going to be making the changes to your iPhone to eliminate the carrier logo.
Right-click your iPhone in the "Devices" toolbar. A drop-down menu will show up and you need to select the "Back Up" option and left-click it. This will make a back up of your iPhone as is.
Download and install iBackup Bot. A free sample of this program can be found with a quick Internet search. Don't worry about the limited time, since this is a one-time use, and you don't need to run out and buy a copy of the software.
Close iTunes. Open iBackup Bot and look for your latest backup that you just made. Once the backup is open you want to find the line that reads "Library/Preferences/com.apple.springboard.plist." Double-click that line and click "Cancel" on the first pop-up message.
Type in the following:
<string>Your custom carrier here</string>
This should be put into the code below "<dict>."
Save these changes and then close the pop-up window. Click "File" on the toolbar and then click "Restore." A pop-up message will ask if you're sure; click "Yes." The changed backup will download onto your iPhone, and the carrier logo will be whatever you type in with the code.
