Maybe you have a big date tonight and need to wash your little black dress with the sequins all over it. Perhaps your little girl is a figure skater wearing a sequined costume for competition. Whatever the case may be, stop wasting money at the cleaners. Sequins can be washed at home, but you can't just put them in the wash with your other clothes. As long as you take a few steps to protect your garments in the wash, you can do it at home and even steam them without a professional steam cleaner.
Things You'll Need
- Large cotton pillowcase
- Washing machine
- Steam iron
Button or zip any sequined outfits you want to clean. Turn them clothes inside-out.
Place the sequined clothes inside of a large cotton pillowcase. Tie the open end closed.
Place the pillowcase in the wash on a regular cycle in cold water. Your clothes will get washed without the roughness of the washing machine getting to it and ruining the sequins.
Remove the pillowcase from the wash and take out your sequined clothes. Lay the garment flat to dry. Steam out any wrinkles with a steam iron or hang the sequined outfit in the bathroom and take a hot shower so the steam from the shower relaxes the wrinkles.
