Hunter Douglas manufactures a wide variety of blinds and window coverings that match just about any home décor. When it comes time for a change, or just a makeover, you can easily remove Hunter Douglas blinds. A mounting bracket holds these blinds in place. Once you have removed the blinds from the bracket, you can then remove the brackets.
Things You'll Need
- Needlenose pliers
- Wall mud/spackle
- Putty knife
Remove the bottom of the shade from the hold-down brackets, if attached. Bend the end of the hold-down brackets backwards slightly and pull out the bottom of the shade. Unscrew the hold-down brackets from the wall with the screwdriver.
Pull on the cord to raise the shade all the way to the top.
Grasp the Hunter Douglas blinds firmly on each side. Use a stepladder, if necessary, to reach them. Push the blinds toward the window. While pushing backwards, pull down so the blinds are released from the clips. Set the blinds aside.
Use the screwdriver to loosen the screws holding the mounting brackets in place.
Pull out the mounting bracket anchors from the window with a pair of needlenose pliers.
Sand down the edges of the holes with a piece of sandpaper. Fill in the holes with spackle or wall mud. Allow the patching material time to dry.
Sand down the patching material so it is flush with the wall or window edge. Paint over the patch, if desired.
