Removing an interior door trim panel on a 1995 Ford Thunderbird is a straightforward and relatively easy procedure. However, there are two areas where particular care is required. The door trim panel is held to the door at the bottom by clips. Some of these clips may remain in the door panel when it is removed. They need to be removed from the trim panel and reinstalled in the door before the existing or new trim panel is installed. Also, there is a plastic water shield behind the trim panel that must be kept in place and undamaged.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the battery cable from the negative terminal using pliers.

    • 2

Unscrew the screws that hold the door trim panel to the door and the screws that retain the door pull and armrest using a Phillips screwdriver.

    • 3

Take off the window crank using an Allen wrench to loosen the retaining screw if you have manual windows. If you have power windows, take out the window switch housing screw with a Phillips head screwdriver, pry out the housing with a flat bladed screwdriver and disconnect the electrical plug.

    • 4

Pry out the bottom of the trim panel with a flat bladed screwdriver to remove it from the clips. Pull out on the bottom of the trim panel and then pull down on the trim panel to free it from the window opening at the top. Disconnect any electrical connectors. Take the door trim panel out of the vehicle.
