My KitchenAid Dishwasher Will Not Fill With Water

Save

While it is important that your dishwasher has a reliable water supply, you should not expect the dishwasher to completely fill up with water. You should, however, expect the dishwasher to have a steady flow of water coming in to it so that there is enough water to adequately clean your dishes. If your dishwasher is not getting enough -- or any -- water flowing into it, there are a few things you can do to improve the appliance's operation.

  • Turn the water valve underneath the sink to make sure the water supply is turned on. Turn the valve clockwise to allow water to flow through it.

  • Examine the overfill protection float, which is located at the front of the base of the dishwasher. Move any obstructions -- including dishes and debris -- away from the float.

  • Look for suds in the dishwasher. If there is evidence of suds or soap inside the appliance, the dishwasher may not fill with water as it should.

  • Press firmly on the door to make sure it is closed. The dishwasher will not fill if the door is even slightly open.

  • Pres the "Start/Resume" button if it is blinking.
