How to Make Fake Hair Dye
Using hair dye can drastically change a person's appearance and attitude. Permanent or semi-permanent hair color is applied at home or at the salon, and will last anywhere from one month to an indefinite amount of time. Fake, or temporary hair dye, can be concocted at home -- in order to give the wearer a new look for a short amount of time. The use of powdered drink mixes, such as Kool-Aid, can be used to create funky, temporary colors that are safe to use on both adults and children. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1
Cover your ears, neck, or any other areas of the skin that you do not want to come in contact with the fake hair dye, with petroleum jelly. This will make cleaning the fake dye less of a chore.
-
2
Pour two to three packets of flavored drink mix into a small bowl. The more powdered drink packets used, the more intense the color will be.
-
-
3
Add 1/8 of a cup water to the bowl and stir. This should create a paste, not a liquid; so avoid adding too much water.
-
4
Add one tbsp. hair conditioner to the bowl. This will help the fake dye go on more smoothly. Mix all of the ingredients together until there are no lumps.
-
5
Divide your clean, dry hair into several one or two inch sections. Wearing rubber gloves, apply the colored paste to each section.
-
6
Wrap your entire head with plastic cling wrap. Use tape to hold down the edges, if necessary.
-
7
Leave the hair wrapped for 8 to 12 hours, or overnight.
-

Remove the plastic cling wrap, and rinse the hair thoroughly with warm water. Apply conditioner and rinse it out. This will soften the hair and remove any stickiness.
