How to Measure for Men's Dress Slacks

Dress slacks should be properly sized before purchase.

To insure a proper fit for dress slacks, you should have some take your measurements and purchase slacks corresponding to these numbers. This is essential when purchasing online where you do not have the option to try on the pair of slacks before purchasing. The most important measurement is the waist size, since most dress slacks will not be hemmed and usually require a tailor to hem them to the proper length.

Instructions

1. Measure around your natural waist. This is approximately level with your navel. Some men prefer to wear their pants lower, so that level would be the proper measuring point. This measurement should be taken in inches.

2. Put on a pair of pants that fit properly, which will give you a better idea of the crotch level and where the bottom of the pants lie.

3. Measure the inseam from the crotch straight down to the hem of the pants. If the pants are not hemmed properly, or you do not have a properly fitting pair of pants, then measure from the crotch down to the arch of your foot.
