How to Freeze Chicken Vegetable Soup
Making chicken vegetable soup from scratch is always worth the time and effort because it is delicious and heartwarming. Since it does take so much time to create the final product, you may want to make extra so you can have some leftover to freeze. That way you can defrost your soup on short notice and enjoy your home cooking all over again. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Quart-sized plastic resealable bags
- Gallon-sized plastic resealable bags
- 1/2 gallon-sized plastic container(s)

Wait for your soup to cool off.

Fill each of your quart-sized plastic bags with the soup. Leave some space at the top for the soup to expand. Seal the bag. Continue to fill as many bags as you need to.

Lay the bags flat in your freezer. You may want to place them on a cookie sheet so they remain flat. After they freeze overnight, place as many bags as you can in the gallon-sized plastic bags. Stack the bags to make more space in your freezer.

Label and date the plastic bags so you remember when the soup was made.

Wait for your soup to cool.

Pour your soup into a half-gallon sized plastic container. Leave room at the top of your container because the soup will expand after it is frozen.

Snap the lid shut completely.

Label the container, writing the date you are freezing your chicken vegetable soup.

Tips & Warnings
To defrost the bags, thaw them in hot water and then pour the soup into a pot to heat on the stove or a bowl to warm up in the microwave. Bring the soup to a slow boil.
