How to do the Lion's Makeup in 'Wizard of Oz'

The 1939 movie "The Wizard of Oz" was a groundbreaking movie, noted for its technical and star-making achievements. The movie featured Technicolor scenes and showcased a wide variety of fantasy elements and makeup, earning it an Oscar nomination for best visual effects. It also made Judy Garland (as Dorothy) a household name. The movie featured some of the silver screen's most beloved characters, including the Tin Man, the Scarecrow and the Cowardly Lion, all of which have since become popular Halloween costumes. If you decide on a Cowardly Lion costume, you'll need some face paint to complete the look.

• Face paint
• Brushes

Instructions

1. Cover the face with a golden-tan face paint.

2. Paint the bottom of the nose black or dark brown. The nose is darker in color than any other part of the lion's face.

3. Draw whiskers in a thin line from the area between the nose and lips going up the cheeks using black face paint. Use about three to five lines for each side of the face.

4. Darken the eyebrows with dark golden brown face paint and then line them with the same color.
