How to Manufacture Animal Feed thumbnail
The ingredients in animal feed should meet the legal requirements.

Different domesticated animals are fed with food that is manufactured. Manufacturing animal feed requires high-quality raw materials that are converted into a homogeneous mixture. Instructions

    • 1

Select the site where you plan to manufacture the feeds. Choose a place where transport is readily accessible so that you don't get problems transporting raw materials. Ensure too that there is a good supply of water and power.

    • 2

Purchase the manufacturing equipment. These include milling machines and ingredient mixers.

    • 3

Find out the requirements regarding ingredient mixing and nutrition composition by the regulating agencies in your area.

    • 4

Hire workers to help you in the manufacturing process. Ensure you have an expert who will be able to mix the ingredients to specifications. Be sure that you have other laborers to help carry raw materials and the finished product.

    • 5

Weigh the raw materials to determine the exact amount of ingredients. Be sure that vitamins, bran, maize and grains meet the requirements of the regulating agencies. Use an accurate scale to minimize errors.

    • 6

Grind the ingredients such as corn and bran, using a grinding machine.

    • 7

Mix the resulting powder mixture with liquid ingredients such as oils, molasses and fats, using a concrete mixer or manually.

    • 8

Use a pelleter machine to make the feed into pellets. Feeds that are in form of pellets can be easily handled and are not too dusty. Add molasses to bind the ingredients and form strong pellets.

    • 9

Pack the feed in sacks made from jute or synthetic fibers.
