How to Open a Kwikset Lock

Insert the key into a Kwikset key lock ridged side down and turn it to the right. The lock will release. You can now pull down the handle and push or pull open the door. This simple key lock is usually found on the main entrance to a home or office.

Enter your four- to eight-digit code into a Kwikset code lock. The electronic bolt will retract. Enter your key ridged side down, and turn it to the right. The key lock will retract. Push or pull the door open as normal. These types of lock are usually found protecting entrances to high-security areas of a building.

Look for a latch or bolt on the door. Lift the latch with your thumb or turn the bolt to release the lock. You will now be able to push or pull open the door. These locks are usually found on areas requiring a lower level of security, like bathrooms.
