How to Get Rid of Hard-Water Deposits
If you have hard water, you probably have hard-water deposits on a number of surfaces in your home. Hard-water deposits can build up on your glassware, fixtures and other surfaces exposed to hard water. Even the inside of your dishwasher can develop hard-water deposits. A mild acid, like white distilled vinegar or lemon, effectively and inexpensively removes hard-water deposits. Does this Spark an idea?

Soak glassware overnight in a solution of equal parts white distilled vinegar and water to remove hard-water deposits. For quick removal, soak in full strength white vinegar for about 15 minutes.

Wash ceramic tile and fiberglass with a solution made from 1 part white distilled vinegar to 4 parts water.

Clean chrome with ammonia-based window cleaner.

Wipe down your boat's hull and deck with full-strength white distilled vinegar.

Cut a lemon in half and use the cut end of each half to scrub hard-water deposits from a bathroom sink.

Fill your teapot with water and 3/4 cup of white distilled vinegar and bring to a boil. Boil for 15 minutes, empty and allow the teapot to cool before washing.

Pour cola over the hard-water stains in your toilet. Use cola, not a lemon-lime soda. You can use flat soda. Let it set overnight and scrub the toilet in the morning to remove the hard-water deposits.

Place a bowl of white distilled vinegar in the top rack of an empty dishwasher and run through a wash cycle to remove deposits inside the dishwasher.
