How to Connect a Speaker to a GPS
GPS, or global positioning system, is a useful tool for navigating. In addition to the navigating features, many GPS navigating systems also now play MP3s or can even function as a phone. Despite the useful displays and other auditory features, some GPS navigating systems do not have very good speakers, or the speakers are not good when it comes to playing MP3s or using the GPS navigating system as a phone. To use your GPS navigation system's fullest potential, consider hooking your GPS up to your car stereo speakers.

1
Insert one of the male ends of the minijack's audio cable into the GPS navigation system's out audio port. This will be located on right side of most GPS navigation systems, when the screen is pointed up and facing you.
-
2
Insert the second male end of the minijack's audio cable into your car stereo's auxiliary input port, also referred to as the stereo's aux-in port. This port is usually located on your car stereo's faceplate, alongside volume controls and channel selectors; however, you may find the port located elsewhere, such as by your gearshift. The port will usually be labeled with "AUX-IN."

3
Choose the aux-in setting on your car stereo whenever you want to listen to your GPS navigation system's audio, and not your car radio, alternate MP3 player or CDs.
