How to Send a Free Text Message to a Wireless Phone

There are many websites from which to send free text messages.

With the rise of text messaging with cell phone plan bundles, thousands of text messages are sent to wireless phones on an hourly basis. However, if you do not have a cell phone or do not have a cell phone with free text message capabilities, you can send a free text message from your computer. There are many websites that offer the ability to send free text messages to a wireless phone.

Instructions

Send SMS Now

1. Open your browser and go to the Send SMS Now website (see Resources).

2. Select the country and cell phone operator from the drop-down menus.

3. Type in the cell phone number of the person to receive your text.

4. Compose your message. Your message is limited to 120 characters. Enter the validation code. This is a security mechanism to fight spam or bots from sending messages. Click "Send Message."

Send SMS

1. Navigate your browser to the Sea Sms website (see Resources).

2. Type your message in the "Message" field towards the bottom of the Web page.

3. Type the 10-digit phone number of the person to receive your text in the field next to "Number."

4. Right-click on the drop down arrow under "Cellular Operator" and scroll down to find and select the mobile carrier of the person you are sending the text message to.

5. Click "Send" to send your text message.

Text by SMS

1. Direct your browser to the textbysms website (see Resources).

2. Type the mobile phone number, including the area code in the first field which says "To."

3. Enter your email address in the next field. This is optional, but the recipient can reply to you text and the reply will be sent to your email.

4. Type a subject in the "Subject" field. The subject doesn't count towards the message limit.

5. Select the recipients' cellular carrier by using the drop down menu.

6. Enter your text message in the following field.

7. 

   The verification code may consist of letters and numbers.

   Type the verification code in the blank field.

8. Click "Send Text Now" to process and send your text message to the wireless phone.

Tips & Warnings

• The recipent may be charged to receive a text.

• Using the free text message sites renders your acceptance to the site's terms and conditions.

• Your Internet Protocol address is recorded when sending a text message online to a wireless phone.
