The site allows chat, email and access to advice columns and other information with the creation of your free profile.

2. Join the website Military Singles Connection. The site is free and you can create your profile, add your photo and begin browsing and communicating through the site's messaging system immediately.

3. For a less traditional path to the same goal, check out the message boards on AOL. There is a military pen pals service for those 18 years and older where members of the armed forces and civilians can mingle and communicate. You will have to create an AOL screen name to join in the conversation.
