How to Install a CB Antenna on a Semi Truck
CB or citizens band refers to unlicensed radio broadcasting service that is open to anyone who wants to tune in to it. A CB radio is often used in vehicles that need a means of communication such as taxis, airplanes and trucks. On a semi-truck, a CB requires a pair of externally mounted twin antennas to produce the best signal range around the truck. The installation of the antennas is easy by use of super magnetic mounts.

1
Set one of the magnetic mounts on top of the frame for the sidedoor mirror so the threaded stud points up. Ensure that the cable is facing in toward to the cab of the semi.
-
2
Position the mount so it is resting solidly on the frame then peel off the protective backing on the bottom of the mount. Press the mount firmly down onto the frame in the location you have chosen.

3
Place the second mount on the opposite side mirror frame and position as you did with the first mount. Attach the second mount once you are happy with its position by peeling off the backing and pressing it down.
-
4
Pass the cables from the mounts along the mirror frame and down toward the hood of the truck. Use plastic ties to secure the mount cables to the frame so the cable is not hanging or dragging.
-
5
Feed the cables under the edge of the hood nearest the windshield and bring them down to the gasket on the firewall. The firewall is the wall separating the engine from the interior of the car and a gasket is located on it to allow the cables to reach inside the rig.
-
6
Hook the cables up to the jacks on the back of the CB radio and screw the antennas onto the threaded mount studs. If the radio is already installed, you might not have to bring the cables through the firewall.

Tips & Warnings
You can use a bolt on antenna mount following the same process except use the bolt hardware instead of the adhesive.
