Program a Channel Changer for Dish Network

One thing that can drive any home electronic consumer crazy is the need for all the "channel changers" or remote controls needed to operate their equipment. To make this ordeal a little less intimating Dish Network provides their consumers with a universal remote control that allows you to program their remote to run multiple pieces of equipment, including your television and stereo. What you will need before programming your Dish Network remote is the programming codes for the equipment you will be running with the Dish Network remote. You can find those codes in the Dish Network remote control TV codes booklet.

Instructions

    • 1

Point the remote control at the equipment you want to program. Start with the televison; the process for programming the remote will be the same for "TV," "SAT," "VCR" and "AUX" except on which mode button you will press. (The four mode buttons are "Sat," "TV," "VCR" and "AUX" on the top of the remote.)

    • 2

Press and hold the "TV" button at the top of the remote until all four mode buttons light up at the top of the remote.

    • 3

Enter the three digit code you got from the remote control TV codes booklet. When this is done successfully the "TV" button will light up.

    • 4

Press and hold the pound (#) button until the "TV" button flashes three times.

    • 5

Aim the remote at your television and press the power button. If it turns your television on, the remote is programmed.

Tips & Warnings

  • When programming your remote for "AUX" or "VCR" repeat the same process. Just remember to press the correct button you want to program. If you are programming the "AUX" button to run your stereo for instance, you will want to press and hold the "AUX" button instead of the "TV" button.
