How to Clean a Teflon Waffle Iron
Waffle irons are one way to make delicious waffles at home. Unfortunately, making waffles in a waffle iron also creates a mess in the waffle iron. Many waffle irons have a Teflon coating to help prevent the batter from sticking to the iron. There is no quick way to clean a Teflon waffle iron. You cannot submerge the Teflon waffle iron in water and you cannot use harsh abrasives. The best way to clean the waffle iron is using a simple toothbrush. Does this Spark an idea?

Unplug your waffle iron power cord and allow it to cool completely before cleaning. Lift the lid of the waffle iron to speed the cooling time.

Brush crumbs away from the grooves of the waffle iron with a soft-bristled toothbrush. Ensure you remove crumbs on the upper and lower plates.

Soak up any puddles of oil inside the grooves with a paper towel. Continue cleaning both sides of the griddle with a damp cloth removing any stuck-on batter.

Apply a few drops of cooking oil to burnt-on batter and allow it to soak into the batter. Remove with a damp cloth. Clean the outside of the waffle iron with a soft, dry cloth.
