How to Remove Devices from Apple iTunes
Safely removing devices like iPods, iPads and iPhones from Apple iTunes is necessary before you can disconnect the devices from your computer. You can accomplish this with the iTunes "Eject" command. iTunes displays devices currently connected to your PC under the "Devices" section of the program window. This section allows you to view, access and safely eject iPods, iPads and iPhones.

Select your device name under the "Devices" section of iTunes.

Click the small "Eject" icon located to the right of the device name.

Wait as iTunes recognizes the ejection. The device name will disappear from the iTunes source list.
