On a cold day, soup is a wonderful meal to prepare for your family. It can help drive away the chill from your bones and you don't have to stick with the everyday chicken noodle soup. You can mix it up. If your family loves cheeseburgers, you can combine both soup and the burgers together. The result is a very filling, cheesy and spicy soup. This can easily feed a family of three and have enough left over for the next day. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • 2 cups cubed, peeled potatoes
  • 1 can diced carrots, drained
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and chopped
  • 2 beef bouillon cubes
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 pound hamburger, cooked and drained
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup half-and-half
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 10 ounces Velveeta cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 pound bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • Soup pot
  • Stirring spoon
  • Knife
  • Peeler
  • Pan
  • Spatula
  • Colander

Instructions

      Combine potatoes, carrots, onion, jalapeno pepper, beef bouillon cubes and salt in the pot. Bring it to a boil. Reduce the heat. Cover and simmer until the potatoes are tender, about 20 minutes.

      Brown the hamburger and drain in a colander.

      Add the hamburger, milk and half and half to the pot after the potatoes are tender.

      Cook the bacon until crisp in the same pan you used for the hamburger. Drain the bacon in the colander.

      Add the Velveeta, sour cream, bacon and cayenne pepper to the pot. Mix thoroughly until all the Velveeta is melted.
