How to Set Up iTunes With a Stereo Receiver

As people continue to purchase more of their music digitally online, the use of home stereo systems becomes more complex. While sound systems can be purchased to amplify the sound from your PC or Apple computer, the popular media player iTunes allows users to connect their new digital music libraries to their high quality home sound systems through wireless networking options.

• iTunes software
• Audio ready wireless router
• Stereo receiver
• Male-to-male stereo cable
• Speakers

Instructions

1. 

   Home sound systems are adapting to wireless and digital options.

   Connect your wireless, audio-capable router to your receiver with a 3.5 mm male-to-male stereo cable.

2. 

   Music from your PC or Apple computer can now be streamed through your wireless network.

   Turn on your computer and connect to the wireless network. On an Apple computer this can be done through Network Preferences. On a PC, this can be done through My Computer-Networking.

3. 

   Music is pleasant and relaxing.

   Launch the iTunes application. Click on the music library option on the left menu. Choose a song and press play.

4. 

   Gain more control over your sound with a stereo receiver.

   Once connected to the wireless network and the stereo receiver, a drop-down menu will appear highlighting "Computer" on the lower right margin of iTunes. Open this drop-down menu and select the name of your wireless network. If your wireless network does not appear, check to be sure that your wireless router has audio routing capability.

5. 

   Utilize bigger and better speakers with your digital music library.

   Adjust the receiver sound system to your preferences and enjoy your digital music on your home sound system.

Tips & Warnings

• Use new and undamaged cables to connect your sound systems. Poor cables can cause feedback that detracts from good sound.

• Adjust the volume on your computer before pressing play or you might damage your ears by blasting the music when your first press play.
