How to Troubleshoot a Lowrance iFinder
The Lowrance iFinder is a hand-held GPS/WAAS mapping navigation unit that can help keep you from getting lost when hiking, camping, fishing or boating. It has a monochromatic display and digital recording. The expandable memory holds up to 1,000 way points and 100 routes. The GPS receiver has 12 channels and the unit's antenna is built in. If you find yourself having problems with the iFinder, there are a few steps you can take.
Instructions
-
Not Receiving Satellite Signals
-
1
Turn your iFinder on and move away from any objects obstructing your view of the sky. Your iFinder's internal antenna must have a clear path to the sky to properly obtain satellite signals.
-
2
Turn the GPS Simulator mode off because your iFinder can not acquire satellite signals in the simulator mode. Press "Menu" twice. Scroll down to "GPS Setup" and press the enter key, marked "Ent."
-
-
3
Scroll down to "GPS Simulator" and press "Ent." Click on the box in front of "Simulator On" to un-check it. Give your unit a few minutes to see if it has acquired satellite signals.
Soft Reset of the Unit
-
4
Turn your unit off and then back on again if it is unresponsive.
-
5
Reset your unit if it remains unresponsive. Using a "Soft" reset does not erase your saved information. Turn the iFinder off.
-
6
Locate the "Pages" key on the left side and press the button in. Keep holding it in.
-
7
Press the "Pwr" button in, while still pressing the "Pages" button. Continue pressing both buttons until the logo appears on the screen.
Hard Reset
-
8
Reset your unit using a hard reset if it continues to be unresponsive. A hard reset will erase all personalized data and memory, returning the unit to factory set conditions.
-
9
Turn the iFinder off. Locate the "Zout" and "Zin" buttons near the center of the unit. Press and hold them in.
-
10
Press the "Pwr" button and hold it in. Continue holding the three buttons in until the unit makes a tone.
-
11
Release the buttons while the iFinder is making the tone and then press the "Find" button. Hold the 'Find" key in and continue pressing it while the iFinder makes a higher pitched tone. It is resetting itself.
-
12
Turn the iFinder off, and then on again after it completes the reset.
