How to Make a Fake Craft Guitar

Turn a tissue box into a fake guitar.

Support children's love for music by helping them create a craft guitar. To make a fake guitar, all you need is a cardboard box, some rubber bands, a paper towel tube and a few other basic craft items. Kids can personalize these guitars with markers and stickers and use them as props in a pretend concert.

Things You'll Need

• Tissue box or shoe box
• Scissors
• 4 rubber bands
• Pencil
• Paper towel tube
• Tape
• Markers
• Stickers

Instructions

1. Cut an oval in a tissue or shoe box. For a tissue box, cut a hole in the sealed side; for a shoe box, tape the lid, and cut a hole in the lid.

2. Stretch rubber bands around the shoe box. The rubber bands should cover the hole.

3. Place a pencil lengthwise underneath the rubber bands near the end of one side of the hole. Tape it in place.

4. Tape an empty paper towel tube onto the top of the box, on the opposite end of the pencil. This will be the neck of the guitar.

5. Decorate the guitar with markers and stickers.

• Cut the hole in the box when you're working with young children.
