How to Get Permanent Hair Extensions
Growing hair out long can take months, even years, depending on everyone's individual hair and the rate it grows. There is a way to cheat the system of that waiting game, however, by getting hair extensions that fit the length you desire. Instead of waiting years for those long locks, wait a few hours during the extension installation process and finally have the long hair you have been waiting for. There is the option to have removable hair extensions, but for the more serious consumer, permanent hair extensions are the way to go. Does this Spark an idea?

Research salons in your area to determine if they offer hair extension installation services. Otherwise research colors and types of hair extensions you can put in yourself. Typically, in a professional salon, getting a full head of hair extensions for added length and fullness put in will cost between $600 and $1,500, and that is just the cost of the labor. The actual hair extensions will increase the cost to around $1,600 to $4,000 depending on the quality of the hair and if it is real hair or not. You can do it yourself and omit the labor cost by purchasing hair extensions you like and an extension kit, which will range from $50-$200 for the hair piece and between $200-$400 for the kit.

Section out hair to begin the process. Leave a layer of hair down at the nape of your neck and put the remaining hair in a clip or ponytail holder to keep it out of the way. Then take a tiny piece (about 1/8th inches wide) of the remaining hair and prepare to apply the first strand of extensions.

Go 1/4th of an inch away from the scalp and place the hair extension on top of the piece of real hair. Using the extension tool, clamp and hold the hair together for about 3 seconds, release tool, and then with your fingers, hold the hair down and roll it until it cools, so it wraps securely all the way around the real hair.

Remove any excess glue that may still be in the strand of hair by combing through hair with comb or fingers. Continue the process through the rest of the bottom layer of hair.

Continue the process by working your way up, leaving a half-inch layer of hair between each section, but making sure not to apply any extensions within 3 inches of the top of your scalp where your roots are --- or further forward on your head than your ears. The side extensions are applied later.

Apply side extensions by leaving a 1-1.5-inch perimeter space between your roots and where you start the application of the extensions. Clip the rest of the hair out of the way with the clip or ponytail holder.

Continue the process in step 3 for the remaining hair.

Tips & Warnings
Always make sure to leave at least an inch of space between the perimeter of your hair next to your skin and where you apply the extensions, to make sure that the bonding of the extension will not be visible even if the hair is up in a ponytail; the perimeter of your natural hair will cover it.
Make sure when you glue hair to be holding the hair down, not out, or else the glue will keep your hair out instead of falling downward naturally like the rest of the hair.
