How to Frame a Collage of Photos

Frame your photo collage to create a beautiful gift or decoration for your own home.

Collages are a popular and easy way to display many moments all in one place. Next time you are creating a photo collage gift, frame a collage of the grandchildren for grandma or your last vacation for your best friend. Not only does framing your collage give it a professional look, but the glass and frame will also protect your collage and pictures so your memories can last even longer.

• Picture frame
• Mat board

Instructions

1. Measure your photo collage.

2. Choose a frame to accommodate your collage, remembering to leave room for the mat, if desired. If your collage is 8-by-10-in., choose a frame that is at least 10-by-13-in. Consider purchasing a custom-made frame if your collage is an irregular size or shape. Or, look for floating frames, which sandwich your collage between two panes of glass or plastic.

3. Purchase a mat to fit your photo collage, if desired. You can purchase a mat with one opening or multiple openings and in multiple colors, so choose the mat that flatters and accommodates your photos.

4. Lay your mat face down on a flat surface.

5. Lay your photo collage face down and centered on the back of the mat, or arrange your collage between the layers of the floating frame until you are satisfied with the arrangement.

6. Tape the photo collage in place on the mat, flipping the mat and collage over if necessary to check that your photos are aligned, or close the layers of the floating frame to keep your collage in ace.

7. Remove the backing from the frame.

8. Lay the collage and mat face down on the glass of the frame if using a mat and traditional frame.

9. Replace the backing of the frame, and secure into place by closing the tabs or close the edges of the floating frame.

10. Hang or display your collage as desired.
