How to Mount an RCBS Reloader

The RCBS Rock Chucker Supreme has been a mainstay of the reloading industry for decades. This reloading press works best when it is solidly mounted to a sturdy workbench. A solid mount will eliminate any unwanted movement and flexing. It also allows you to get a better feel for the pressure you are exerting while operating the handle.

Things You'll Need

  • RCBS reloading press
  • Sturdy work bench
  • Two 3/8-inch diameter bolts
  • Four 3/8-inch flat washers
  • Two 3/8-inch nuts
  • 3/8-inch drill bit
  • Drill
  • 3/8-inch wrenches

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the press on the workbench and mark the hole locations on the bench's surface with pencil or marker.

    • 2

Drill out the holes you marked. Clean up the holes so there are no splinters on either side of the hole.

    • 3

Determine the length of the mounting bolts. Measure the thickness of the bench top, then add the thickness of the press's base plate plus the thickness of the washers. Leave enough room for the nut to fully engage the threads, with just a few threads sticking out after tightening.

    • 4

Set the press back on the bench and install the bolts from the top, then install and tighten the nuts from the bottom. Be sure to use flat washers on both top and bottom.

Tips & Warnings

  • When determining the placement of the press, temporarily clamp it into place and operate the handle through its full stroke to see if there is any interference with the press's operation.

  • Never mount your press close to any open flame or obvious heat source. It won't harm the press, but when you reload you will have extremely flammable powder nearby.
