How to Sell High School Textbooks
Selling your high school textbooks is a great way to get rid of old, no longer used books, and make a little money at the same time. Although reselling textbooks is a more common practice for college students, many high schools require students to buy their own textbooks, and selling them once you're done can help offset the cost of buying new books for your next classes. There are numerous online retailers that offer free accounts for resellers and will help you through the process of pricing, listing, and selling your textbook online.

1
Go through all of your textbooks and remove any markers, pieces of paper, or sticky notes you may still have in them. Erase any pencil marks or underlining. Be thorough, as the condition your textbooks are in will partially determine the price you can get for them.
-
2
Look up the value of your textbooks at an online retailer, such as Amazon or AbeBooks. Check what other people are selling your book for, and what conditions it is being sold at, to determine the amount you will list your books. Make sure to look up the exact edition of the book you are selling, as older editions of textbooks often become obsolete as the new edition is published and fetch very little money.

3
Open an account with a trustworthy online book reseller, such as Amazon, Ecampus, AbeBooks, Alibris, or Half.com. Check for any hidden fees associated with opening an account, such as Alibris's $20 account fee.
-
4
List your textbook to be sold. Set a price that's comparable to other people selling the same textbook in the same condition. Include an accurate description of the condition of your textbook.
-
5
Ship your textbook in a timely manner when it sells. Package your textbook securely, and write the address of the buyer clearly to avoid postal service problems.
