How to Find What Other People Are Searching for on Dogpile

Dogpile is a meta-search engine that brings together results from several popular search tools, including Google, Bing, Yahoo! and Ask.com. Unless you previously disabled the feature, Dogpile's Recent Searches tool retains a list of queries that have been run by users on your computer. The Microsoft Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox Web browsers also maintain a record of user searches by default. Using either method to find what other people are searching for is a quick task once you know where to look.

Instructions

  1. Using the Recent Searches Tool

      Open a Web browser window and navigate to the Dogpile homepage.

      Enter any search term in the box at the center of the screen and then click the "Go Fetch!" button.

      Look to the bottom of the right-hand column on the search results page. If the Recent Searches feature is enabled and visible, you will see a list of search queries below the "Recent Searches" heading. If you see the heading but not the list of searches, click the adjacent "View" label.

    Using the Internet Explorer History Panel

      Open an Internet Explorer browser window.

      Press the "Ctrl" and "H" keys simultaneously. The browser's History panel opens on the left side of the window immediately.

      Click the drop-down menu near the top of the panel and select "View By Site."

      Click the folder labeled "dogpile (dogpile.com)" or "dogpile (www.dogpile.com)." The list of queries entered into Dogpile appear below the folder name immediately.

    Using the Firefox History Panel

      Open a Firefox browser window.

      Press the "Ctrl" and "H" keys simultaneously. The browser's History panel opens on the left side of the window immediately.

      Click the "View" button at the top-right corner of the panel and select "By Site."

      Click the folder labeled "dogpile.com" or "www.dogpile.com." The list of queries entered into Dogpile appear below the folder name immediately.

  • Dogpile lists six of its most popular current searches below the "Favorite Fetches" heading on its homepage.
