Instructions

    • 1

Take your thread and knot the ends together so it forms a circle.

    • 2

Holding the looped thread in both hands, wind it around 10 times, so it forms two triangles attached at their points, with the wound part in the center.

    • 3

Place the thread around the fingers of both hands. By widening the fingers of one hand while closing the fingers of the other, push the wound part from the middle toward one hand. Reverse the process, widening and closing the opposite hands, to push the wound part toward the other hand.

    • 4

Practice this movement until you can make the wound axis move back and forth smoothly and easily. The more you practice, the quicker you should be able to do it.

    • 5

Select the individual hair you wish to remove. If it is a facial hair, you will need to use a mirror. Apply a small amount of talcum powder. While still holding the thread in both hands, place half of it over the hair that you wish to remove, close to the skin. Ensure that a triangle of thread entirely surrounds the hair.

    • 6

Very quickly perform the motion you have practiced, widening the fingers of one hand while closing the others, so the wound portion of the thread moves, taking the hair with it. The thread should lift the hair cleanly out by its root. If you perform this action smoothly, there should be little pain.

Tips & Warnings

  • You will need to practice for at least an hour before you feel confident your threading will work.

  • Threading may cause red skin and mild irritation. Use a cold compress if this occurs.
