How to Prevent Blemishes
Blemishes, or acne, occur when the pores of your skin become clogged, trapping bacteria and oils within. This causes the surface of your skin to swell up and become red from irritation. According to Stephanie L. Tourles, author of "Naturally Healthy Skin," proper skin care will prevent most blemishes from occurring with time. Taking care of your skin is a simple process, requiring only a few minutes a day. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Wet a soft washcloth with warm water and rub your face in soft, circular motions to hydrate the skin and open up your pores. This lets your skin better receive the effects of a moisturizing skin cleanser.
-
2
Place a dime-sized drop of skin cleanser on the wet, soft washcloth and wash your skin in the same manner as earlier. Rinse the washcloth and wash away the cleanser's residue from your skin.
-
-
3
Pat your face dry with a soft, clean towel. Repeat two to three times daily; preferably, once in the morning, once during the day and once before bed.
-
4
Do not touch your face frequently. Your hands contain dirt and oil build-up that will further clog the pores on your face, causing increased blemishes.
-
5
Keep your pillowcase washed twice monthly. As you sleep, the oils from your face build up on your pillowcase over time. This leaves oil to sit on your face after you have cleansed your skin in preparation for bed. According to Mark Lees, author of "The Skin Care Answer Book," keeping your pillowcase clean is an important answer to comprehensive blemish prevention.
