How to Activate a Direct TV Card

Many cable and satellite TV providers use cards to activate digital cable equipment, enable certain channels and features of service, and send signals to the digital cable equipment. Cards must not only be installed in all the cable equipment you're using, but must also be activated by the provider before they will work with your service. 1. Insert the card in your DirecTV receiver. The location of the card slot varies depending on the model of DirecTV receiver you use, but typically it is on the front panel, sometimes behind a door that you can open without using tools.

2. Contact DirecTV and request that they send an activation signal to the card.

3. Test the card by scanning through your entire channel lineup, and trying all features of your DirecTV service. If everything works without error, you have successfully activated the DirecTV card.
