How to Make Your LG Dare Look Like an iPhone

Change around your icons to make your smartphone look like a iPhone.

After the introduction of Apple's iPhone, the smartphone race was on. The iPhone was the first touch-screen cell phone, but it has many rivals. According to "Wired," more people are "tap-happy" with a wider selection of touch-screen phones with Wi-Fi, camera and GPS capabilities. Verizon's LG Dare has voice GPS and expandable memory, but the features can be slow. Even email for the LG Dare costs extra. While the LG Dare is no iPhone, you can change its wallpaper to look just like one.

Instructions

1. Change the wallpaper on your LG Dare phone by going to an online website with free LG Dare wallpapers (see Resources).

2. Click a wallpaper you want from the given selection on the website. A page opens to the chosen wallpaper with different icon placements. The wallpaper with nine icons in three rows across and three rows down looks the most like an iPhone. Choose that one.

3. Click on the wallpaper with a black top bar since iPhones have a top bar that is usually black. Right-click the wallpaper you created to save it to your computer.

4. Save your wallpaper image to your Pictures folder. Right-click the image and click the "Save Picture As." A Save Picture dialog box opens for you to name the file at the bottom of the box and automatically save it into your Pictures folder. Name your file and click "Save" to save the image.

5. Open your email application to send this wallpaper image as an attachment to your LG Dare phone. Type the email address as "[e-mail]." For example, if your number is 222-222-2222, email [e-mail]. Be sure to attach your wallpaper file. Wait for the email to be sent to your LG Dare.

6. Open your email when you receive it. Tap the "Options" menu at the lower-right side of your cell phone. Tap "Save Picture" and the "Save" button.

7. Tap "My Pictures" on your LG Dare, and tap the "Options" menu again. Tap "Set As" and then "Wallpaper." When your wallpaper pops up, go to the Shortcut Bin and press down and drag each icon into the squares on the wallpaper image. When they are all in place, you have an LG Dare that looks like an iPhone.

Tips & Warnings

• Just dragging your icons into neat rows can make your LG Dare look more like an iPhone. You don't need to have a wallpaper.

• Placing the icons into the same placement the iPhone uses helps your phone look more like an iPhone.

• Using your smartphone while driving is always dangerous. This project should be done at home, not in the car.
